These are some pictures from Semi-State (semi-finals) on Saturday. Our Marching Band team qualified for Semi-Finals by placing in the top ten at the Indiana Northern Regional. The top ten from the North and South met in Indy to compete. The ten best scores from Semi-State qualify for Finals. Our band did a complete turnaround from Regionals. We were projected by one internet site to place 1st at Regionals. We struggled and placed 7th. Needless to say we were very nervous to make it through Semi's. We placed fourth and advanced but the real cool thing is based on all the Northern teams that we had placed 7th a week earlier we out scored them all. Winning a championship is more of a reality now. Bring on the FINALS....

Another picture of the Marching Band.

Erika is one of the Drum Majors of the Marching Band and this is a picture of her.

The Concord Marching Minutemen were in action on Saturday. This was the Indiana Northern Regional meet. 17 teams who qualified from district competed with the the top 10 highest scores qualifying for Semi-State this coming weekend. They will meet the top 10 from the Indiana Southern Regional and the 10 best will go to the State Finals. It was an exciting night as we qualified. Here is one picture of the show.

Okay...I'm still wanting to brag some on Cassidy...here is an excerpt from our local newspaper THE ELKHART TRUTH (October 13, 2009...Girls Soccer Concord, Penn use speed to advance to semifinals round)

GOSHEN -- There was something of a youth movement Monday as the Goshen Sectional girls soccer tournament started at Goshen High School.
Not that juniors and seniors are ancient, but freshmen and sophomores played key offensive and defensive roles on a night where Concord and Penn both earned 5-0 quarterfinal victories for the right to meet in Thursday's semifinals.
Sophomore Hannah Amos produced two goals and an assist while sophomore Natalie Ogle, freshman Cassidy Field and junior Staci Kirts also potted goals while freshman Sarah Emerson was a standout on defense for the triumphant Minutemen (9-4-3).

An update on Cassidy's soccer team....JV season is over and Cassidy along with some others were brought up to play with Varsity during the post season tournament. Game #1 was tonight and their team won 5-0. Cassidy registered her first Varsity goal scoring point #2. Yup, she is excited.

Erika, Seth and Cassidy are all on this year's Marching Band. There are 165 members of the band. They are off to Regionals on the 17th. Qualifying in the Top 10 Northern bands will put them into Semi-State with the Top 10 Southern bands. The overall top 10 from this group which will be determined on the 24th will go to the State Finals to be held on Halloween. Go Concord Marching Minutemen!

I'm learning about tradition in Soccer. At least I think it is tradition...after the game (it doesn't always happen...it might depend on the mood of the team) but the team forms a line and runs across the field and back. As fans we get to applaud them as they approach us. Cassidy is #20.

Yes, Erika joined a football team. It was for Homecoming week. There were two teams (Seniors/Sophomores vs Juniors/Freshman). They practiced a few times and had one game. Erika is the girl in black with the red hoody. The Seniors/Sophomores won!

The team photo of Rebecca's 2nd place finish in tournament. The team lost 2-1. Not pictured are two other girls who couldn't make the game. Rebecca is third from the right of the picture.

I was able to be the assistant coach of Rebecca's team this year. Her team was comprised of 5th and 6th grade girls. Her team finished 3rd out of 5 in the regular season. The first tournament game was against the #2 seed and we walked all over them 6-0, but fell in the Championship game to the #1 seed 2-1. Rebecca is shown in Raspberry color an the left of the picture.

Cassidy's High School JV soccer team was able to play in the division championship game this past Saturday. There were two divisions and each divsion hosted a championship game. Her team lost in a shootout after not allowing a score in the games 70 minutes of play. The season is over for JV but Cassidy is being invited to dress for the Varsity Sectional games.
